Pokémon X And Pokémon Y Introduce Their Fossil Pokémon

The Pokémon Company have revealed the two fossil Pokémon in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y—Tyrunt and Amaura, obtained by using the Jaw Fossil and Sail Fossil respectively.

Tyrunt is said to be “over one hundred million years old” and will throw a fit when it doesn’t like something. It’s a Rock/Dragon type and evolves into Tyrantrum, a Pokémon with large, powerful jaws.

Meanwhile, Amaura has the Refrigerate ability, which turns Normal-type moves into Ice-type moves. Refrigerate is a new ability being introduced in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.

Amaura evolves into Aurorus. Both Pokémon are Rock/Ice-types. Like Tyrunt, Amaura is believed to be one hundred million years old. After it evolves, it can blast air to form a wall of ice to shield itself from attacks. It can learn Aurora Beam at an early level and also has a move named Freeze-Dry, which is super-effective against Water-type Pokémon—something that isn’t typical of Ice-type moves.

Scribblenauts Unmasked A DC Comics Adventure Launches, Steam Store Copy is Overpriced

Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure Launches, Steam Store Copy is Overpriced

Launched just yesterday, Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure can be had for a low price of $20.25 (Steam key version). The funny thing about this price is that the Steam Store (and a few other retailers) have the game listed with a MSRP of $39.99, but for whatever reason GMG lists the game at $29.99.

With an already low list price stacking with instant savings and coupon, Unmasked at GMG is 40% cheaper than what you'd pay for the same exact game at Steam Store ' and either way, you're still getting a Steam key. Solid deal.

Some other PC game picks this week include Rayman Legends and Ninja Blade for only $1.50. It's not exactly FromSoftware's best title (makers of Armored Core and Dark Souls series), but the price is dirt cheap. Titles below activate on Steam unless otherwise noted.

Sparkle Introduced Super Clock Technology (SCT)

SPARKLE Computer Co., Ltd., the professional VGA card manufacturer andsupplier, today announced SPARKLE Super Clock Technology (SCT). Through this newSCT, users will immediately get additional 3D power for their favorite games outof box. GeForce 8 Graphic cards with higher shader clock out of box will delivermore smooth DirectX10 gaming experience with same retail prices.

With an impressive lineup of R&D team, SPARKLE proudly introduced SCT whichis now used in all GeForce 8 Graphic Cards. Instead of simply raising core speedand memory speed, SCT effectively exalts the stream processors' clock to extremefast situation by using NiBiTor software to achieve lightning speed. Detail ofusing NiBiTor software, please refer to the article written by G.F :http://eng.mobile01.com/newsdetail.php?id=3584

Now stream processors which operate shader special effects can furnish a greatnumber of stream processors dependent games with extraordinary 3D renderingmight. By enjoying SCT out of box, our customers can feast their eyes ongorgeous DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 gaming environments without worrying about theastaticism and excess working heat brought by traditional overclocking method.

Now GeForce 8 series graphic cards can deliver ULTRA-realistic DirectX 9 andDirectX 10 gaming experiences and unparalleled image quality with SCT.Thanks tothis SPARKLE exclusive technology, now we can check the performance benefitbrought by overclocking GeForce 8500 GT graphic card's stream processors (shaderclock) below:

From 3DMark05 test result, we can clearly see that the performance raised to7.27% when only overclock the core speed from 600MHz to 650MHz, and if we simplyuse SCT to raise the stream processors (shader clock) from 1300MHz to 1560MHz,the performance raised to 14.55%, and if we use SCT to raise both core speed andstream processors (shader clock) , the performance rocketed to 20.81%.From3DMark 06 test result, we can get similar conclusion. So by using SCT, we canget much more performance benefit compared with traditional core or memoryoverclocking.

“The stream processors play a very important role at DirectX 9 and DirectX 10gaming rendering, so pc gamers can take great advantage from SCT. "said KevinWang, sales director of SPARKLE Computer Co., Ltd. "Thanks to our smart RDengineers, SPARKLE can provide much higher shader clock compared with NVIDIAreference boards in all series of GeForce 8 Graphic Cards. Now our consumerscan immediately enjoy the extra performance out of box brought by extreme faststream processors."

Scientists add 'reminder' microchip to prescription drugs

A recent Popular Science (PS) article revealed that there is a new electronic pill supplement system called the “Proteus Digital Health Feedback System”. The microchips, when swallowed, will send data to a Bluetooth evice that keeps track of a patient’s medicine intake. A Dr. George Savage developed the idea along with Andrew Thompson who then took it to an electrical engineer to help develop the idea. The men stated that it was a “blend of MEMS and wireless data transfer.”

The article points out that the World Health Organization figures show approximately 50% of patients fail to use their prescription medicine properly. It was these kinds of figures that lead Savage and Thompson to create the pill, and it took about seven years before a prototype was developed for testing. Their problem was that they needed metals that was safe to ingest, and when swallowed would react with the stomach acids to generate enough electric current to alert an external bluetooth device. The device will keep tabs of what has or has not been swallowed. A special application on the device would then record what medicine and dosage was taken and then store that data on a secured cloud for the medical professional to monitor.

The idea of an electronic pill has been around for a while now with many researchers looking for a usable development of it. In2010, the University of Florida online news website ran an article where a very similar device was being created by their College of Engineering. The device was described to be very similar to the one designed by Dr. Savage and his teammates. Nevertheless, this fact only emphasizes that some type of monitoring system for prescription drugs has been needed for a long time. Prescription drug abuse is at epidemic proportions today, and many doctors are torn about what to do when a patient needs something for their pain. This new delivery system was devised, in part, because most medicines are taken on a patient’s scheduled time, in their own home and without any formal supervision by a medical professional. In the case of those suffering from life threatening illnesses or some major mental disorder, missing a scheduled dose or abusing it can often result in serious harm or even death.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration have approved a placebo version of the device. However, by it not being a drug, the FDA will need to approve each individual drug looking to have the device as part of the active ingredients. So, don’t expect to see this on the market until the end of 2014 or early 2015.

Researchers find 100 million year old spider-attack

Like something out of Jurassic Park, researchers have captured what looks like a spider about to attack a wasp, in a 100 million year old piece of Amber. The wasp had been caught in the spiders web, something evidenced from 15 strands of still intact spiders silk in the amber. The spider had then approached the trapped wasp, but before it could attack, tree sap had fallen onto the web, encasing them both. The tree sap hardened, and over millions of years turned into amber.

The fossil in question

This discovery is the first find of its kind, as no other fossil records have shown an actual spider attack in progress (there are however, records of animals trapped in spider webs, sans the spider). The fossil also contains another spider elsewhere on the web, making it the earliest potential evidence of social behavior in spiders. The fossil was found in a Burmese mine and dated to the early cretaceous period (the last era of dinosaurs), between 97 and 110 million years ago.

Both species, unsurprisingly, are extinct today; however, the wasp belongs to a group whose modern day counterparts parasitize spider eggs. It is possible the older species did as well, which would make the wasps demise a somewhat ironic predicament. The spider belongs to a group of orb weaver spiders.
